Biodance
Biodanza Session by Sandra López
Biodanza is a technique created in the 1960s by the educator and psychologist Rolando Toro who began to experience the power of music and dance and their role in the recovery of the mentally ill. Toro stated that dance and music were capable of awakening love, desire, harmonizing interpersonal relationships, and even fostering vitality and increasing happiness.
This method, which in its origins was called psychodance, has evolved to the present day towards what is known as biodanza, a form of body expression with music and sounds in a choreography that allows the development of creativity and an exercise of honesty, sincerity and personal life force in each session. According to Rolando Toro, "Biodanza is a system of human integration, affective re-education and re-learning of the original functions of life. Its methodology consists of inducing integrative experiences through music, singing, movement and group meeting situations".
Sandra López is a facilitator of Biodanza, Integral Yoga and other alternative therapies. In addition to having cooperated with some NGOs and carrying out political responsibilities, nowadays she manages the Kizen Center.
